Ross Arena is Professor and Head of the Department of Physical at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Arena received his B.S. in Human Performance from Southern Connecticut State University in 1993. He went on to receive his M.S. in Physical Therapy in 1997 and Ph.D. in Physiology in 2001 from the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Arena is a Fellow of the American Heart Association, European Society of Cardiology and American College of Sports Medicine. He has led the successful implementation of several innovative healthy living initiatives in the academic, clinical and community settings, most recently founding the Healthy Living for Pandemic Event Protection (HL-PIVOT) network. Dr. Arena’s scholarly interests include: 1) Exercise testing and training in patients diagnosed with cardiopulmonary disease/dysfunction; and 2) Healthy living initiatives that promote the healthspan. Dr. Arena has published extensively in these areas with over 1000 peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, and book chapters.

Peter de Jong is a staff adviser and assistant professor in the field of Technology Enhanced Learning at the Leiden University Medical Center in The Netherlands. In this position at the Center for Innovation in Medical Education, he has been managing several major programs within Medical School in the field of development, application and evaluation of educational technologies. He is also involved in the educational research program of LUMC. Peter has a Master degree in Medical Technology from Eindhoven University and a PhD in Biophysics/Physiology from Maastricht University. He has been a member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Netherlands Association for Medical Education (NVMO), he has been Chair of their national Special Interest Group on E-learning in Medicine and he chaired the 2000 NVMO Annual Meeting.
Since 2007 Peter is involved in the International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE), an international organization with a focus on advancing medical education through faculty development while ensuring that the teaching and learning of medicine continues to be firmly grounded in science. He has served the organization as Board member and Vice President, and in 2009 as Program Chair and Site Host for the first IAMSE Annual Meeting outside North America. Currently he holds the position of Editor-in-Chief of Medical Science Educator, the online journal of IAMSE.
Pediatra nefróloga por la Universidad de Oviedo y Maestría y Doctorado en Investigación en Ciencias Médicas por la misma de institución. Mas de 18 años de actividad profesional en la asistencia de niños con enfermedades renales, y 16 años de actividad docente en ámbitos de pregrado, posgrado y educación profesionalizante. Actualmente es Decana de la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de los Andes, Colombia. Sus líneas de interés e investigación son en tubulopatías primarias, glomerulopatías de la infancia y en técnicas en innovación pedagógica.
