Dr. Giulia Bonaminio is the Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education and a Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Kansas School of Medicine.
Her career in medical education has focused on curriculum design and innovation, educational leadership, accreditation, and medical education research and scholarship. She is the recipient of the Association of American Medical College’s CGEA Laureate Award and the International Association of Medical Science Educators’ (IAMSE) Master Scholar Award. She has served as President of both IAMSE and the Society of Directors of Research in Medical Education (SDRME).
Dr. Bonaminio received her MS and PhD in Molecular Genetics from The Ohio State University, completed a post-doctoral fellowship in medical genetics at Stanford University and is a graduate of the Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) fellowship.
Helena Prior Filipe is a Doctor in Medicine by the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon and an Ophthalmologist by the Instituto Dr. Gama Pinto and the Portuguese Medical Association. She currently practices as a Consultant of Ophthalmology in the Department of Cornea, and Ocular Surface of Hospital Egas Moniz, (West Lisbon Hospital Center, Portuguese NHS).
After taking her master’s degree in medical education by the Portuguese Catholic University in Lisbon, she became involved in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) with a particular interest in the underserved communities and the effective application of Internet based educational resources. As Editor in Chief of the Portuguese Society of Ophthalmology website she was responsible for both the communication and the education components.
Serving the International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO) as chair of the Committee for CPD has given her the opportunity to work globally and to acknowledge the pivotal role of professional societies in CPD. She co-authored and co-edited the e-Book “ICO Guide for Effective CPD/CME”, especially concerning practitioners in challenging circumstances interested in the foundational concepts of CPD.
Helena presently serves the Ophthalmology Foundation, as Chair for the Simulation Subcommittee and as Chair for the CPD Subcommittee. She serves the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology in ARVO Professional Development and Education Committee. She serves the Society for Academic Continuing Medical Education (SACME) as Vice Chair for the Capacity Building Subcommittee of the Scholarship Committee and is column author for CPD in SACME CE News.
She is a founding member of the AMEE CPD Committee of which is a past co-Chair, served the ARVO CME Committee, the GAME Education Committee, is a core member of Mentors Across Borders, Brigham Education Institute, is a Directive Board Member of the College of Ophthalmology of the Portuguese Medical Association, collaborates with the Department of Medical Education of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon and is an investigator of the Research Centre of Egas Moniz. She is a fellow of SACME and a Fellow of AMEE.

Dr. Quesnelle is a Clinical Professor and Chair of the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville (UofSC SOMG). Dr. Quesnelle is a graduate of the University of Michigan. She earned her doctorate degree in Molecular Pharmacology from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Vascular Medicine Institute at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine that included a training fellowship with the United States Food and Drug Administration in the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. She recently joined UofSC SOMG from Western Michigan University Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine where she was a founding faculty member.
Dr. Quesnelle is a pharmacology educator with hundreds of hours of classroom instruction and experience with many diverse active learning pedagogies. Dr. Quesnelle is an active participant in all phases of curricular administration, from design and implementation to evaluation. Dr. Quesnelle’s scholarship centers around the role of biomedical scientists in medical education. She currently serves as an appointed representative to the American Association of Medical Colleges Council for Faculty and Academic Societies and as a Committee Chair for the International Association of Medical Science Educators.

El Dr. Loukas fue nombrado decano de la Facultad de Medicina en 2021. Anteriormente, fue nombrado presidente del Departamento de Ciencias Anatómicas de la SGU en 2008. Es responsable de administrar el departamento de anatomía, desarrollar el plan de estudios, supervisar la investigación e inspirar actividades académicas. Bajo su dirección, el departamento publica aproximadamente de 70 a 80 artículos académicos al año. Además, el Dr. Loukas es el decano de investigación de la Universidad y el decano asistente de ciencias básicas y afines de la salud.
Antes de unirse a SGU, el Dr. Loukas enseñó anatomía, histología y radiología en el Departamento de Educación y Desarrollo de la Facultad de Medicina de Harvard durante siete años. También enseñó anatomía en la Universidad Americana del Caribe y fue director del curso y presidente del Departamento de Anatomía durante un año. Neil Osheroff is Professor of Biochemistry and Medicine at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and holds the John G. Coniglio Chair in Biochemistry. Beyond his research, he is committed to the education of future health professionals and to the professional development of health professions educators. Dr. Osheroff has been teaching medical students since his arrival at Vanderbilt in 1983. He has been a medical school course director since 1990, helped lead two curricular revisions, and was one of four faculty members tasked with developing and implementing the pre-clerkship phase of the medical curriculum as part of a major revision in 2013. He currently co-leads the pre-clerkship phase, chairs the phase’s teaching team, and chairs the Master Science Teacher group. He is the immediate Past-Director of the School of Medicine Academy for Excellence in Education.
Internationally, Dr. Osheroff is a Past-President of the Association of Biochemistry Educators and is the immediate Past-President of the International Association of Medical Science Educators.
Dr. Osheroff has received awards for mentoring, teaching, promoting diversity and inclusion, curricular design, and educational leadership and service. Peter de Jong is a strategic advisor and senior researcher in the field of Technology Enhanced Learning at Leiden University Medical Center in The Netherlands, where he leads a team for the development, implementation and support of learning materials and where he provides strategic advice in the field of technology enhanced learning. His research interest is in the field of Online and Blended Learning in medical education, especially the integration of Massive Open Online Courses into regular classroom teaching, and the use of Mixed and Virtual Reality applications. He authored several articles on the topic of the use of computers in education and online learning, and presented numeral oral, poster and workshop presentations. Peter has a Master degree in Medical Technology from Eindhoven University and a PhD in Biophysics/Physiology from Maastricht University. He has been a member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Netherlands Association for Medical Education (NVMO), he has been Chair of their national Special Interest Group on E-learning in Medicine and he chaired the 2000 NVMO Annual Meeting.
Since 2007 Peter is involved in the International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE), an international organization with a focus on advancing medical education through faculty development while ensuring that the teaching and learning of medicine continues to be firmly grounded in science. He has served the organization as Board member and Vice President, and in 2009 as Program Chair and Site Host for the first IAMSE Annual Meeting outside North America. Currently he holds the position of Editor-in-Chief of Medical Science Educator, the online journal of IAMSE published by Springer. For the period of 2022-2023 Peter serves as the President-Elect of the organization.

Ross Arena is Professor and Head of the Department of Physical at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Arena received his B.S. in Human Performance from Southern Connecticut State University in 1993. He went on to receive his M.S. in Physical Therapy in 1997 and Ph.D. in Physiology in 2001 from the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Arena is a Fellow of the American Heart Association, European Society of Cardiology and American College of Sports Medicine. He has led the successful implementation of several innovative healthy living initiatives in the academic, clinical and community settings, most recently founding the Healthy Living for Pandemic Event Protection (HL-PIVOT) network. Dr. Arena’s scholarly interests include: 1) Exercise testing and training in patients diagnosed with cardiopulmonary disease/dysfunction; and 2) Healthy living initiatives that promote the healthspan. Dr. Arena has published extensively in these areas with over 1000 peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, and book chapters.

Dr. Le is an internationally recognized expert in digital learning and student engagement in medical education. Dr. Le earned his medical degree at the University of California, San Francisco, trained in internal medicine at Yale-New Haven Hospital and completed an allergy and immunology fellowship and a master’s in health sciences at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Le has authored over 40 textbooks including the First Aid for the Boards series. He is currently chief of adult allergy and immunology at the University of Louisville and Chief Education Officer of ScholarRx, a global platform for shared medical curriculum.
